The SEZ Adventure Club conquered Stage 5 of the Pekoe Trail on August 8, 23 Adventurers took on the 14.31 km journey from Pundalu Oya to Watagoda.
The day began at 4:00 am with a stop for Fajr namaz, followed by a hearty breakfast.
The route passed through villages, mountainsides, and paddy fields, crossing the Pundal Oya River and passing landmarks such as Wewahena Bridge, the Kotmale River gorge, and Medakumbura Estate.
Along the way, hikers enjoyed views of waterfalls, patches of wildflowers, the group paused for Zohr and Asr prayers before continuing towards the Dimbula Valley before finishing at Watagoda Town
Despite the long hours, the group maintained a steady pace and supported each other through steep ascents and descents. The day offered a mix of scenic landscapes and cultural glimpses, making it both a physical challenge and a memorable experience for everyone involved.
