On April 12, the SEZ Adventure Club completed Stage 4 of the Pekoe Trail, a demanding yet rewarding journey that saw 13 hikers take on one of the most scenic sections of the trail. Setting off from Tawalantenne, the group was greeted by quiet village roads and stretches of rice paddy fields, setting a peaceful tone before the climb began.

The trail wound through tea estates dotted with mulberry bushes, offering sweet surprises along the way. Crossing the Ramboda Oya—just above the famous Ramboda Falls—the group made steady progress through the Kandy region’s rolling hills.

Highlights included sweeping views of the Kotmale Reservoir and a glimpse of the submerged Kadadora Viharaya on its banks. With an elevation gain of nearly 1,200m and a total distance of 15.5 km, the trail tested the team’s endurance, but strong spirits and stunning scenery kept everyone going.

After 4.5 hours of hiking, the group wrapped up the day with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the next adventure. Stage 4 reaffirmed SEZ’s spirit of resilience, exploration, and love for Sri Lanka’s hidden trails.
