The journey began with a walk through the scenic Deltota Estate, winding through estate roads, past a historic kovil, and over rolling hills. Along the way, the group passed through lush areas shaded by towering pine trees, with participants keeping an eye out for leeches.
One of the highlights was traversing the Loolkandura Estate, the site of Sri Lanka’s first tea plantation established in 1867 by Scotsman James Taylor, known as the ‘father of Ceylon tea.’ The trail continued along picturesque tea paths, offering breathtaking views of vast tea bushes, a striking rock formation, and tropical rainforests.
Despite the physical demands of the hike, the group’s morale remained high, fueled by the shared sense of achievement and the stunning scenery. The hike concluded at Loolkandura, marking the end of an unforgettable journey that tested endurance and fostered camaraderie.
